Day 10

(June 5, 2011)

Beach day today!

Emily, Lilly and i went to a venetian flea market in the morning. There were some cute things there that were "antiques" but it was so darn expensive nothing was worth paying that much money for.

We rode the vaporetto over to Lido, and we made sure we didn't get on the wrong one this time! We went to the same bike rental place and rented our bikes. We stayed on the island for a good four or five hours. It was really good down time compared to all the art looking we have been doing. I have been getting behind on my blog a little because there is just SO MUCH to think about, write about, draw from, and take pictures of. It is crazy. I need like a whole year here to fully absorb all of it.

The beach was nice and sunny for awhile then it got a little cloudy and windy, but I thought it was still a nice day. I read a little bit of "Relational, of Baku," from the Azerbaijan pavilion, just to understand the work better. It was really relaxing to sit on the beach and read. I feel like that's the only time I can really sit and enjoy whatever book I'm reading; as long as there are no other distractions around. I wish I could do that everyday. We got back maybe around 6:00 p.m., though I'm not sure. I ate some leftovers for dinner and we all kinda chilled until we decided to get some gelato and go for a walk when the sun went down. In certain ways, Venice is much nicer after dark. There are less people walking around, it's quieter, and not as hot. It's started raining on our way there but it was fun to walk in the rain, and it made our ice cream that much better :)
